The Poconos region of Pennsylvania is a long-time favorite retreat destination for families and couples. There are lots of outdoor recreation opportunities here, as well as kid-friendly water parks, great restaurants, and quaint shops. Rather than staying at one of the popular hotels in the area, you can get back to nature and perhaps save a little money too by camping in an RV or tent.

Delaware Water Gap KOA, East Stroudsburg

Many popular camping destinations have KOA campgrounds, and the Poconos is no exception. The Delaware Water Gap KOA has spacious sites with patios and pull-throughs, as well as level tent sites and cozy cabins as options. There is something for everyone at this campground when you want to be near Bushkill Falls, the Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area, and the cities of Hershey and Philadelphia. Amenities provided here include Wi-Fi, cable TV, a seasonal pool, mini golf, snack bar, propane, and firewood. For recreation, there’s a playground and water recreation on the river. This campground is open all year long.

Mount Pocono Campground, Mount Pocono

The Mount Pocono Campground is a family-oriented campground with full hookup sites for RVs and tenting/pop-up sites with water and electric only. It’s a big-rig-friendly campground with swimming pools, a dog run, and free Wi-Fi. Other offerings are the horseshoe pits, playground, nature trail, and two-story entertainment center with indoor games. The Pocono International Raceway, Mount Airy Casino Resort, and Lost Trails ATV Adventures are all close by. The campground is centrally located in the Poconos and just 90 minutes from NYC and two hours from Philadelphia. Weekend activities are planned during the summer months.

Mountain Vista Campground, East Stroudsburg

To escape into the Poconos, plan your stay at the Mountain Vista Campground in Northeastern Pennsylvania. For RVs, there are full hookups, cable TV, pull-throughs, and lean-to shelters available. Tent camping and cabin camping are also options here. There are fun events scheduled throughout the summer months through Halloween weekend. The amenities offered at this campground are free Wi-Fi, a laundromat, outdoor game area, firewood and ice for sale, clean bathrooms, dog run, and a campground store.

Cranberry Run Campground, East Stroudsburg

Camping in the Poconos is fun when you stay at the Cranberry Run Campground, which offers RV camping, tent camping, and cabins. It’s a peaceful and private place to camp where you won’t be right on top of your neighbors for a real natural experience. All RV sites include water, sewer, and 30-amp electric service. Tent sites are either primitive or have water/electric hookups. There are two primitive cabins that you can stay in for glamping as well. Cranberry Run has been a family-run establishment since the 1970s and aims to help its guest unplug and have an authentic camping experience. Reservation requests can be made online or by calling the campground office.

The Hemlock Campground and Cottages is another Poconos region camping destination that offers people multiple ways to camp. It is in the heart of the Poconos and features wooded campsites for RVs, pop-up campers, and tents. There are also cozy cottages that are equipped for glamping stays. All accommodations are pet-friendly so you can bring your pup along. You’ll be surrounded by natural beauty and many recreational activities when you stay here. The RV sites have full hookups, while tent campers can choose either a primitive site or one with utilities. The campground also has a bathhouse and laundry facilities for guests to use.

Otter Lake Camp Resort, Marshalls Creek

Otter Lake Camp Resort is a year-around camping spot along a 60-acre lake on 300 wooded acres in the Poconos. This is a great place to be for fishing, swimming, and enjoying time with family. For RVs, there are full hookup sites with cable TV and Wi-Fi. There are also tent sites here, as well as two laundromats, a convenience store, watercraft rentals, indoor and outdoor pools, and many games to play. This place has been a top local camping area since 1971 and has themed weekends and planned activities to partake in.

Pocono Vacation Park, Stroudsburg

Open all year along, the Pocono Vacation Park is in the heart of the Poconos Mountains and offers full hookup sites for RVs. Other features of this RV park are the dog walk area, propane for sale, playground, mini-golf course, bingo, swimming pool, and rec hall. It also has a small library, horseshoes, sport courts, and spacious sites for large RVs with slide-outs. Popular attractions in the region are the Delaware River/Gap, state parks for outdoor recreation, casinos, museums, wineries, and amusem*nt parks.

Chestnut Lake Campground, Brodheadsville

Located in Brodheadsville, Pennsylvania, the Chestnut Lake Campground is a relaxing place to camp and enjoy a family-friendly atmosphere. It features large campsites with full hookups and year-around service. Most sites have 50-amp electrical service and are 40 by 100 feet long. Wi-Fi and cable TV are available at most sites too. The Gianelli family established this campground in 1980, and there are scenic views of the mountains and countryside from the well-maintained park. Showers, a laundry room, dump station, and propane fill station are all available onsite for guests to use. Boat rentals, fishing, lake swimming, basketball, and the playground are all fun activities onsite.

Four Seasons Campground offers camping in the Poconos so you can enjoy some peace and quiet or lots of activities during your stay. It is a wooded park with sites that have cable TV, full hookups, picnic tables, and fireplaces. There’s a store for RV supplies and the opportunity to stay here for a night, week, month, or entire season. The campground is located in Scotrun, Pennsylvania and offers bingo, wagon rides, swimming pools, a playground, and sports equipment to use. There are planned activities hosted between May and October.

In Blakeslee, Pennsylvania, you can enjoy the Poconos region while camping at the Peaceful Woodlands Family Campground. Here you’ll find 50 acres of beauty and a location at the base of the Dixon Miller Recreation Area, which is one of the highest accessible points that overlooks the Pocono Plateau. Most sites are surrounded by trees, and there are options here to bring your RV, pitch a tent, or rent a cabin. The family-owned campground dates back to 1977 and has been under new ownership since 2013. Amenities include arcade games, lawn games, a dog park, mini-golf, playgrounds, outdoor pool, rec hall, and dump station.

Stonybrook RV Resort, Lehighton

When you stay at the Stonybrook RV Resort, you can enjoy full hookup sites year-around and join fun activities between May and October. It’s located in Leighton, Pennsylvania and has daily, monthly, and extended stay rates available. There’s free Wi-Fi throughout the park, as well as a campground store, clean bathhouses, fire rings, picnic tables, and cable TV for guests. Lake Moc-A-Tek Campground, Lake Ariel

Make a reservation at the Lake Moc-A-Tek Campground and bring along your RV or tent to experience the Poconos. There are weekend events all throughout the summer at this campground that was founded back in 1961. It accommodates RVs and tents while also offering cabins – 150 RV sites, 10 tent sites, and four cabins in total. There are many seasonal campers who stay here and give the place a nice sense of community. Features of the campground include free Wi-Fi, rowboat rentals, a camp store, laundromat, swimming pool, and bathhouses. This camping area is 2.5 hours from New York City, three hours from Philadelphia, and 30 minutes from Scranton.

Scotrun RV Resort, Scotrun

There are 134 campsites at the Scotrun RV Resort, which offers lots of family fun and a location in the beautiful Pocono Mountains. It has a swimming pool, lake for fishing, mini-golf, and planned activities. Examples of activities include arts and crafts, ceramics, wood carving, and lawn bowling. In addition to RV sites, you also have the option of staying in a deluxe cabin or luxury loft park model unit. There are many local attractions close by this camping destination, including the Crossings Premium Outlet Mall, Camelback Ski Mountain, Camelbeach Water Park, and Mt. Airy Casino.
