Summertime is here, and that means it's time to pack up the kids and hit the road. I don't know about you, but when I think of a vacation, I imagine somewhere hot with lots of things to do and also some great places to eat! And one of my all-time favorite destinations is sunny Destin, Florida.
I grew up spending my summers on the Florida Panhandle and you can't beat Destin—especially with its gorgeous white sand beaches and crystal blue water. But my favorite thing about Destin isn't the breathtaking views, it's all the great eats! If you're a foodie like me or just someone who can appreciate a freshly-caught shrimp dinner, then I've got the perfect list for you.
Here are 10 of the best family-friendly restaurants in Destin, Florida:
1. Back Porch
If you're looking for a super relaxed atmosphere, the Back Porch Seafood and Oyster House is the ideal spot. A treasured favorite of the locals since 1974, it's the perfect place to take in the breathtaking Gulf views while you and the fam enjoy fresh seafood!
2. Beach House

Lulu's has it all. The family-friendly atmosphere means you can enjoy your meal without worrying if your little one is a bit squirmy or loud. AND there's an arcade for after dinner fun!
9. McGuire's Irish Pub
If you're jonesing for something other than seafood, McGuire's Irish Pub is the place to be. A local favorite, McGuire's boasts a diverse menu, including their famous burgers and steaks. Your and your family will love the fun atmosphere of the pub--especially the thousands of dollar bills that hang from the ceiling and cover the walls. (Supposedly, there's more than 3 million dollars covering the wall! wowza!) Plus, you can listen to live entertainment, including some traditional Irish favorites.
10. Pompano Joe's
This gem is not only a Gulf Coast favorite but also super family-friendly. It's fresh (and affordable!) Gulf seafood dishes that have a fun Caribbean twist, it's a hit with both the grown-ups and the kiddos. And if seafood gumbo is your thing, definitely try a bowl at Pompano Joe's--it's award-winning and sooo delicious!
